The company was incorporated on 29 December 1945 in Amalner, Maharashtra by Mohamed Premji as "Western India Vegetable Products Limited", later abbreviated to "Wipro". It was initially set up as a manufacturer of vegetable and refined oils in Amalner, Maharashtra, British India, under the trade names of Kisan, Sunflower, and Camel.
In 1966, after Mohamed Premji's death, his son Azim Premji returned from Stanford University and took over Wipro as its chairman at the age of 21.

Client Background
Assam has been grappling with the issue of undocumented immigration since independence. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) was first prepared in 1951 to document the names of Indian Citizens in Assam.
There has been a long-standing demand for updating the NRC 1951 as a result of growing infiltration. The Government of Assam has been entrusted with the responsibility of updating the NRC on behalf of the Registrar General of India. The NRC has to be updated to include Indian citizens and/or their descendants who were in India prior to 24 March, 1971.
